After deciding to put a character into production, we then need to copy the original master to a mask master for the electroplating process to make paint masks. The process of copying is purely done by hand and eye coordination. The mask master may have slightly exaggerated features because the masks will usually come back with slightly smaller stencils.
In any type of production regardless of whether you are injection molding or slush casting or even designing apparel, you must always take into consideration shrinkage ratios.

Mask master heads must be in milk or cinnamon so that the person cutting away at the masks can clearly see the outlines.
