Wonder Festival 2006 Winter

POSTED BY DANNY CHOO On Tue 2006/02/21 05:20 JST in Figure and Doll events
I heard mixed things about Gundams and Wonder Festival - some said that I wouldn't really find any, some said that there would be tons. Those who told me the latter are now six feet under. The truth is that Wonder Festival is *not* the place to go if you are looking for the latest Gundams. The big players at Wonderfes were Kaiyodo, Kotobukiya, Good Smile, Takara, Alter, Max Factory but no Bandai... Sorry Gundam lovers - you and I will have to wait until August for the Chara Hobby toy event.
Still, Wonderfes has a ton to see - so much that this report had to be broken down into four parts...
This is part one which will cover the general atmosphere with shots of the hall - just to wet your appetite.
Part two tomorrow will cover the female figurines.
Part three will cover the Mecha/Starwars and other non female figurine stuff ^^;
And part four will cover all the Cosplay fun n games.
Before I go on however, make sure you visit Akihabara news to see something that will make all those thinking of buying a Segway to think twice.
This report is brought to you by the gruesome twosome (Gonzague and Danny) - part 2 tomorrow.
As usual, we got hold of our press passes which always comes in handy ^o^//
The booklet is the guide which contains a map of all the stalls and other bits n bobs.
This is the front of the queue which went on for what looked like 1002 miles out into the cold. Just imagine how many times the person in front will fart in a space of a few hours. Now imagine the smell of a fart in the cold. This is the only reason why I insist on getting a press pass.
On the way in, one had to hold up the guide book and wave it left n right. People who failed to do this were shot down by a sniper.
Kotobukiya's stall. They only had a few things on sale though.
This was part of Kaiyodo's stand which was showing off their new line of Revoltech figures - these are going to be *very* popular indeed. The joints use a ball joint system called Revoltech which you would have seen before in kaiyodo's line of Keroro Gunsou figures.
These figures are extremely articulate and can just about do any pose you can think of including the adjusting-underpants-while-driving pose.
Kaiyodo plan on releasing two figures in the Revoltech line on the 15th of every month and the first ones you will see are Dante from Devil May Cry 3, Getter1 and Dougram.
Forgot to mention that these figures retail at 1995 yen and I will be getting Dante when its out.
Kaiyodo had tons of Revoltech figures on display but none for sale ToT.
The ladies dressed up as Kasumi were extremely popular.
Entrance area where all the big players were.
Some dude giving some speech on some subject.
Anyway, that's all for today - "Wonder Festival 2006 Winter part 2 - Female Figurines" tomorrow - at the moment struggling to filter a few hundred photos...
