When learning Japanese, I watched a load of Japanese dramas which done wonders for my learning. Learning purely from anime is not something I recommend unless you want to try and get by in Japanese society speaking like an anime character ^^;
Japanese drama's will also enable you to observe what sort of words are used in particular situations and match that to facial expressions - something that one cant see effectively in anime. Folks who love Japan will also get to see and learn a lot about places in Japan too.
