At this moment in time, figma Mirai is the 3rd best selling figure on Amazon Japan ^o^
Mirai Suenaga started off as a mascot character with one facial expression in the corner of the site back in 2007. This screenshot was taken shortly after she was born as an eternal 17 year old.
Back in 2008, a site member called Ionized created a 3D Max version of what a figma Mirai would look like.
The results can be seen in this post.
A few months later in March 2009, I started to plan an April fools and asked Ionized whether I could use the 3D data which I was to give to Good Smile Company. They fed the data into their 3D printer and out came some parts...
On April 1st 2009, Good Smile Company put together the parts that they made using the 3D printer - figma Mirai! But alas it was just an April fools.
The April Fools turned out to be popular so Good Smile then went ahead and sculpted a new one from scratch which was displayed at a figure show that I organized called the Tokyo Figure Show in Summer 2009.
And just over a year later, we managed to find time to sculpt the extra accessories and secure the production line in the factories.
figma Mirai Suenaga will be released in June 2011.
The top of the Good Smile Company website. Been waiting very long to see this ^o^
Created a wallpaper for figma Mirai which you may want to nab from Flickr - its 3000px X 1686px.
And as for Nendoroid Mirai? Depends on whether figma Mirai does well - and today's best selling ranking at Amazon looks like a good indication of things to come ^o^
And here is the latest illustration of Mirai-chan.
Folks can find out a wee bit more about Mirai in the Mirai Millennium post and in her profile page.
