Photo coverage of the Culture Japan booth at Comic Fiesta 2014.
We had a great year as usual at CF. Smart Dolls sold out in 33 mins on the first day and we noticed a change in the demographics of our fans - they are getting younger and the number of female fans have increased - this is great because all business have something called "churn" where old fans move on and depending on the efforts of the organization - new fans are introduced to the brand.
In our case, the branding of Chitose and Kizuna together with the introduction of Smart Dolls seem to have accounted for a large portion of our new fan base.
Despite a 2 year absense of Culture Japan TV and the lack of posts on this website, I am pleased that our brand continues to be strong in the region.
One thing we need to get better at however is queue management and transaction processing - we are fast but was not organized in a way to process transactions fast enough. Please forgive me on this point and will promise to spend more resources in this area next time.
We did have another complaint about the lack of Touch n Go - many fans who purchased our products mentioned that we should have saved more for them rather than for folks who were queueing up just to resell the Touch n Go.
To deter resellers of our Touch n Go, we may need to raise the standalone price (in the case we do not enforce merchandise purchases) to make it unprofitable to resell. We will however have discounts as usual on Touch n Go for those who do purchase our merchandise at the same time.
This year I introduced a privilege for Comic Fiesta volunteers who get to buy anything they want before doors open and will be doing so in the future too.
Anyway, I would like to thank all those who popped by the booth - if you have any feedback (good or bad) then please let us know so that we can make it better for next time.
