A Week in Tokyo 45

POSTED BY DANNY CHOO On Sun 2009/09/20 14:26 JST in A Week in Tokyo
First photo taken last Thursday at the Good Smile Company offices - will cover that later on in this post.
New daughter head compared to Saber and Nanoha. Shes in need of new blue animetic eyes asap. This is what she will look like with blue eyes.
The black patch is double sided tape which keeps the wig from falling off.
This mornings office. Like to keep a photo record of how my office has changed through the years - its interesting to see what it looked like a few years ago.
Not using the iMac at all - was originally going to use it as a server. Will try to flog it this week.
At the moment I have 2 Mac Mini's, a Dell Mini 9 (with Leopard installed), 1 15" G4 PowerBook, 1 MacBook Pro 15" and this iMac - all unused - must try to sell them off this weekend.
How many unused computers do you have in your household and what do/will you do with them?
Having a gander at the posters at the train station.
Lovely Thai food for dindins. Took ages for them to prep it though.
I ate this after this guy handed over his change to the lady who served me...
Was wondering why my chicken had corn in it.
I love our local shopping mall - the longest indoor one in Tokyo.
Keep Watching You.
Many theft prevention signs have eyes like this. Wonder if they will be more effective if they had a picture of the lower pair of eyes instead?
My previous office on the 3rd floor. You can see what this room looked like in A Week in Tokyo 5 nearly 2 years ago.
The room is mainly used to stock samples and lovely relatives.
A dish of Thai curry at a new place near us.
Really cute traditional Japanese garnments for kiddies. Probably too big for a Dollfie though.
Some gorgeous weather of late.
Whenever I'm at this Korean place, it reminds me of the time we spent in Los Angeles. Would love to visit again sometime soon.
Mikuru finds a new chair.
Tokyo has a lot of choice when it comes to international food - something that I didn't really notice when in China or Singapore - maybe I wasn't looking hard enough?
Do you have a good choice of international foods in your kingdom?
Picking up some stuff from the 100 yen store. One can get bargains from here. When we first came to Japan, we got all our cutlery from a 100 yen store and still use them today - have lasted 10 years so far.
Love this - a Mc Flurry from Mc Dees - its like ice cream with spearmint and crunchy chocolate.
This weeks Mc Des freebies - they transform into Ironhide, Rodimus, Jazz, Megatron, Optimus, Starscream, Soundwave and Bumblebee.
Cherry Blossoms at this time of year?
Aoi-chan munches on some Maizokin cookies at tea time.
Maizokin is a term used to describe treasures, money or gold that has been buried and lost.
Katsu - mince meat n potato coated with breadcrumbs and deep fried.
Need to clean the back of furniture more regularly. Dust like this around electrical wiring can lead to fires.
What happens is that the dust that gathers around electrical points absorb moisture in the air and when that comes into contact with an electrical flow then something bad happens.
Scroll down a bit on this page to see a photo of what happened when a mound of dust caused a fire. Over 1000 accidents with fire are said to be caused by dust like this in Japan every year.
Has anybody had any bad experiences with fires? Many moons ago back in the UK, wifeys bathrobe caught fire when she was cooking something. She rolled around on the floor to put out the fire and was unharmed ^^;
While not cleaning dust around electrical wiring can lead to fires, not dusting down figures can lead to oily surfaces - not sure why though. Had a few figures which I failed to clean regularly and after a while they became oily. Must be something to do with the moisture absorbed by the dust which causes some sort of chemical reaction with the paint?
Get to clean the figures more regularly as I don't need to shift around furniture. Used to dust them down every week but do it twice a week now.
A cooking brush from the 100 yen shop is used for figures and I have another bigger brush for table and shelf surfaces.
Notice Nanael and Sonico with their tissue-bra-symmetrical-docking-action.
Dust gathers on the girls too which I usually remove by blowing at their hair or clothes or by patting their heads ^^;
Have not had the need to wash their clothes yet. How do you keep your daughters clean?
There's another set of shelves on the other side of the room that needs dealing with too.
All dusted down and back in position for another days work.
The set of shelves near me are spanking clean too.
Some Japanese style omelette with mushrooms on rice.
Discovered another Indian restaurant near us recently.
Mmmmmmm! As much as you can eat for 980 yen.
Chris Gaunt - fellow Brit from the UK who works with me. The best hire I have ever made in my career as a hiring manager.
Chris has a story to tell which I am sure he will do one day.
He saved up a load of moolah and came over to Japan on a working holiday. He decided he wanted to stay in the land of the rising sun and then started to look for permanent work and while doing so, his funds were being depleted fast.
Been through a few stormy seas to get to where he is now - will leave the rest for him to tell when his site launches on Mirai Gaia.
The bicycle is a common form of transport in Japan. Most folks are required to ride on the pavement with the rest of the pedestrians. Here is a sign asking riders to giveway to pedestrians.
Would prefer that bicycles go with the rest of the cars. Where do bikes ride in your neck of the woods?
That stone looking thing has water pumping out the top which trickles down the side - really nice to look at. Would be great if they had a USB version.
Omelette stew with rice for lunch.
Strolling back to the office after lunch while taking in the gorgeous blue skies.
Japanese fast food in the form of a bowl of udon at Fuji Soba.
In Matsudo for meetings with the Good Smile team.
Case O Nendoroids. This display was previously used at the recent Gift Show. Looks like there was some demand for the actual case too ^^
This weeks GSC office display case is mostly filled with Nendoroids and Figma's.
Leeku Miku.
This weeks promo posters. GSC spend a load of money producing and sending these out to retailers across Japan. When I heard the amount I was like @.@!!!
Meeting with the web team done and time for lunch at the Indian Restaurant Indo Tei that GSC and Max factory run together.
GSC and Max not only know how to make the best figures - but they make the best curry in Tokyo too.
I still need to get round to doing a tour of the GSC offices with dannychoo.com readers.
A gatcha machine at the entrance.
Then its off to another building for the afternoon session of meetings.
Meetings are with Poken - the electronic USB social networking business card.
Hmmm. Wonder why I, GSC and Poken need to be in the same meeting...
Meetings done. Having a look round the rest of the office. They just moved into this building so theres not much to see right now.
Meeting up with the other members of staff.
A quick group photo before we leave. The settings on the Lumix were completely off for this timed shot.
Matsudo station. Most JR lines have signs in English, Chinese and Korean too. Which reminds me of something interesting I was when arriving at SEATAC airport in Seattle - there were signs for the exit in Chinese, Japanese and Korean but no English.
Back at the office after the GSC Meetings in time for meeting with Cospa.
Hmmm. Why has Cospa brought around that doll from Dacapo and why does the Mirai mark need to hide something on the table which can only be announced after mid October?
Another new restaurant in our neck of the woods - Okonomi yaki.
Wondering if I've been eating too much health food of late.
But we do eat at home from time to time too ^^;
Wifey is a great cook. I'm a bad cook. I remember once back in the UK when I couldnt be botehred to fry bacon, eggs and tomatoes so I blended them all and tried to make some sort of pancake with horrifying results ^^;;;;
Do you cook and would you like to participate with posting photos if I launched a recipe site on Mirai Gaia?
Tis festival season in Japan. Today is the last day. Will finish up taking pics and post them separately.
