If you want to attrack non-otaku (What kind of otaku you're talking about btw? Anime otaku? Idol otaku? Game otaku? PC otaku??), I think a fighting game like Melty Blood is too hard and really not fair for them in the competition. You should use something more simple so everyone can just pickup easily. Maybe some puzzle game or shooting games? Maybe you can try Touhou, it's really popular in Japan. Most of the version is for single player, but the following version is for 2 players.
