Do you like your cake? Do you like your sushi? Well how about a sushi cake? These yummy cakes are available from Ryu Gu Jo Sushi Studio and cost between 5,250 yen and 6,830 yen depending on the fish used. And for those who are new to eating sushi, the tutorial below will tell you everything you need to know. Hmmm. Think I've decided to to have for lunch today. Oh, and wondering if you take your sushi with wasabi? I used to order all my sushi without wasabi until I saw something on TV about how good wasabi is for the health - was on TV so must be true desu. Sushi cake via CScout.
as beautiful as they look I think I prefer my sushi in bite size lol!
ditto. They just don't seem as appetizing being so big.....
Yeah... Im a big sushi fan but seeing those cakes kinda makes me want to boot.
Agree

MMMMmmmm.........sushi.......MMMMMmmmmm.......cake....
The cake is a lie ;)
Tbf it isn't really a cake, just a giant multi combo sushi the size and shape of one. But on the other hand cake...goooood, sushi...goooood, So Sushi Cake = Go0o0o0o0o0d!
LoL funny... we were just talking about sushi restaurant and what kind of cake we should give to the birthday recipient XD Can this be delivered to Vancouver by tomorrow? ^^;
Looks pretty nasty at first glance to me simply because the cake configuration is making me expect something sweet >_>
I prefer eating sushi with my hands... With that size, it will be kinda difficult...
that looks mighty good, but I prefer my sushi and makimono the way they are; in bite sizes. and I like wasabi with them... I layk'em a'lot.. :D
I love sushi and I love cake, but this is a bit much. How about a cake that looks like sushi.
Oh man. . . *Drools* You had to torture me. I don't get a chance to have sushi until our local NaNoWriMo TGIO party on Friday.
I dunno why but the video seems humorous. XD But I started eating sushi since our cafeteria sells variety of it. But I don't open one wasabi packet to be partnered with sushi. I've eaten once so my backhead burns like barbecue, also my tongue.
I LOVVVVE Sushi. What the heck is up with that movie, though!? "Most Japanese eat at a sushi-ya at least once per day?" No way!! Absolutely false. And-- 20 cc of soy sauce (correctly callled "Murasaki" in a sushi-ya)??? That is too much!! It almost seems like it's poking fun at foreigners who almost always use way too much soy sauce-- so much that the delicate flavour of the fish is ruined. Weird.
"Keep refrigerated" Oh hey comment box is bigger. You still need to disable clicking the "post comment" button when there's text in the box though :P
I prefer home made vegetarian sushi <_<
Scary O_o
wow..that cake looks freakin good...pass the wasabi plz@!
Danny you should add another collum in your poll.....Absulutely Love sushi. ^_^ The sushi cake looks interesting, but have to admit kinda scares me....but who needs to waste good food.
Funny, such formality and intricacy, who knew that the consumption of sushi was so methodical? Regardless, the idea of a sushi cake seems less than appetizing, but I would probably give it a try if presented with an opportunity. As for wasabi, I believe a little goes a long ways toward the overall enjoyment of the sushi.
so how much about zohkin is true?
NONE of it! That movie is weird-- appears to be a spoof of some sort; although a subtle one.
mmm sushi ... mmm cake ... ummmm sushicake ... um...no ...
it's a delicious caek, we must eat it...
Looks like something that would be great for a party, at least as a conversation piece! :)
Great idea with Sushi Cake ^_^ Me wants some...YUM~
The big sushi cake doesn't look nice... But I love this kind of variation: http://www.usmenuguide.com/ohanahousenewsushi.jpg I wonder if Japan also has it.
Oh my...I love sushi and I have got to try one of those!!!
I had sushi for lunch today with my marketing team! :D Sushi cake sounds like a real cash cow too! LOL What health attributes does wasabi have o_O ? Because I never eat that stuff!
Beautiful caku! Must be very expensive. >_< I wish I got this caku for my birthday XD
I have a fear of eating seafood so I'll pass on this...though I have to say it's designed rather nicely...
Christmas and Birthday wish: A big sushi cake!
I like wasabi especially when you eat it alone. Makes your nose feel weird and eyes watery!
sushi?yes,but i dont use wasabi. sushi cake?no thx =_=; wew,how do u eat that?
Just cut it like any ordinary cake I guess? "Now who gets the lobster claws?"
hmm i think i prefer my sushi and cake separately XD. wasabi i do take that once in a while, it's good for clearing your nose if you have a flu =P
Yum! Why's it so hard to get 'Yellowtail' in proper Japanese Sushi stops in Asia?!!!
Uh....is it because they are rare or expensive or both?
That's quite interesting. Not sure if I'd eat it though..>w<'' My parents make sushi for a living so...yeah I like sushi...but every now and then I get sick of it...
hmm.. looks nice, but i think i'll pass..
Aside the tuna and maybe the squid I probably wouldn't eat that as it looks very unappetizing bunched together like that. Sushi isn't complete without wasabi. I made the unfortunate mistake of not checking over my sushi piece once as the wasabi stuck to the side as I ate it. It cleared my sinuses though... I don't eat the radish slices though. There's this amazing all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant near my place. I go there atleast 2 or 3x a month. Great food, low price.
love sushi, love wasabi.... and english mustard for that matter. Back in high school my friends once challenge me to a wasabi eating contest. Won with a simple trick, 'breath' If the wasbi is too strong, just breath in while eating and it'll be ok. The trick doesn't work with English Mustard though. lol. but yeah, love'em, but hate those sea urchin's eggs, still can't get used to that, especially when mixed with natto.
Gosh that looks absolutely delicious, if I got that for my b'day I'm so sure I'm gonna have it alone XD No way I'm gonna see it flying all around the place...."NooOo my unagi!...NooOo maki!"
Looks yummy to me too, though I also wonder how to eat it. I suppose you'd still have to cut it up just like regular cakes. lol at the video. I don't think we're supposed to take it seriously ^^;
MOUTH WATERING MASTERPIECE!!!! OM NOM NOM NOM!!!! ITADAKIMASU!!!
I love Sushi but that much scares me, though it must be loaded with Omega Fatty 3 Acids heh. Do you eat your sushi with chopsticks or your hands Danny (and readers)? I sometimes see in anime and J-dramas people eating Nigiri sushi(I think that's the one where it's on top of the rice and not rolled with seaweed) with their hands. I always want to try it like that but I'm afraid I'll get some weird looks.
Eating sushi with the hands-- It's the way kool guys in Japan eat Nigiri sushi and maki rolls. I only use chopsticks to eat sashimi. It is not very lady-like, though. I have never seen my wife or her female friends do it.
LOL, I posted lots of The Japanese Tradition videos on my blog... they are awesome! Anyways, I love Sushi! I mean, I even eat sweet ones: http://xspblog.com/2008/11/13/moe-tan-and-sushis/ And I like them with wassabi (not the sweet ones though). Those cakes though, looks more like sashimi.... I'd give them a try.
I've had sushi pizza and it was quite good. I personally love sushi but I don't really get good deals going to all you can eat places anymore because university killed my apetite and stomac capacity. I absolutely love wasabi though.
OMg that video was hilarious!! I like the part about askin the taisho on any recommended items...
Haha, I saw that video a long time ago and I can't believe I rediscovered it. The video is not meant to be taken seriously. Seriously, who eats sushi on footwear.
OK-- I am glad someone said this. I certainly couldn't take it seriously, even though it appears to be serious. ^^
Aside from the sterilised geta, is there any wrong part from the video? I'm not very familiar with sushi eating customs, so aside from the geta and eating salt outside the sushiya, I don't think there's anything wrong there.. CMIIW >__<
Looks super delicious *_*
I used to work at a sushi restaurant, loved the free sushi =].
I can't stand sea food, I would like to try over and over until I like sushi T_T
This is preposterous!!! I will always think about spongy bread sweetness with cream and bits of fruit (and sometimes mocha or chocolate) whenever the word "cake" comes out! Sushi is best enjoyed bite-sized ^^
Bite size please~
Looks good, but I'll be picking it apart piece by piece.
I don't really like seafood in general and that extends to sushi as well. Eel and fish in particular is >_<.
that looks good...
uh, I dunno about putting candles on those sashimi. that's kind of.. bad, I think?
"I used to order all my sushi without wasabi until I saw something on TV about how good wasabi is for the health - was on TV so must be true desu." ^it appeared on the manga Yakitate Japan! when Azuma made a bread that does not rot for 3 weeks!!!
sushi is nice but those cakes look kinda disgusting to me wor... sushi overkill perhaps?
Wow... Sushi... Sushi and cake in one...I want... Damn, one of these cakes cost equally to a figure... I wonder where exactly in Japan it is...
well this just...TAKES THE CAKE.... dohohohohoh
i also take my wasabi with sushi
That picture suddenly gave me godly ideas. >:D
I seriously dont feel like eating this! ^^; the claws scary. Anyway the video demonstration is funny
that video is so funny XD !!
I like sushi and I take them with wasabi sometimes =3
Was I the only bothered by the fact that he uses his cloth to wipe his swear THEN use it to wipe his knife ?? ewwww ?
That video is hilarious. I remember the first time I found it on Youtube and showed my brother and he took it seriously. Ah, subtle humour...
Think i'll have Sushi tonight after seeing this.
hilarious video but educationally omoshiroi desu
