nice to see that you keep updating this series. :)
I think free wifi everywhere would be much cooler. Regarding your search for a moesome 2D girl calendar for next year, I have a solution. I took a bunch of Hi res images that I liked and got a professional printing service to make a calendar for me. It turned out really well and all the pictures are EXACTLY what I wanted ^^ I on;y paid £7.02 including postage for 2 a4 calendars. I thought it was great value.
wow - nice article. so much covered from conferences, a singapore trip, an interview to food in one article. one q: wont the cooking brush leave scratches on the figures? about pirated software being used in my workplace - nopes. even it were i wouldn't grass over it cause it would mean trouble to me cause people get corrupted here over a small amount of money. also think i might have to forgo the next contest, cause i dont want to join youtube. the net connection sucks here bigtime. i'd rather have a 100mbps connection than free wifi (i dont have any wifi enabled devices ;) )
Actually, next year that Wireless@SG wont be free anymore (if im not wrong) ^^; it was free to 'market' it so ppl get used to browse freely with their laptop in starbucks, etc. But once its not free, they gotta paid to surf anywhere ^^;
It won't mind paying if it is a minimal sum a month. They're slowly wifi-ing the whole island so should give them some credit for it.
lol, I never noticed the bars there at the window, because everytime you took photos of your office/room, it's always at night!! XD
Free wifi is only at designated wifi spots not fully island ^^;
I’m sure you will be inundated with more homemade calendars than you can manage now. By the way, I use a mouthpiece brush or recorder cleaner to dust down my figures. They only cost pennies in UK. Bean-made coffee is so easy to make, and I agree, is the better tasting. Loved Guy Kawasakis’ presentation video. Perhaps now would be a good time to remind everyone of the reason for Mirai Inc being in existence? I see you still have a British passport. Any thoughts about becoming a Japanese citizen?
mmm it has been a quite a while since a weekly tokyo post. :) Seems like things are settling down at a certain time and then suddenly becoming busy the next day for you. Hope you're coping with that well. 100mbps, since I'm more of a home PC user. Can't stand laptops for some reason...only if its to study, but for gaming...just cant suffice.
Ramen .... shop .... *drool* Anyway, I'd much rather prefer the fast internet at home rather than free wireless. I hardly use wifi. Coffee is easy btw, just get youself a small spice grinder and one of these; http://www.kitchenniche.ca/images/bodum%20french%20press%20coffee%20maker%20chambord%20big.jpg It's as easy as brewing up Danny ^__^
Fast 100mpbs would be better for me, almost all of my net activity goes on at home and I would appreciate faster downloads instead of wireless.
Nice walkthrough Danny. I'd rather have 100Mbps flat rate then having free wi-fi at lower speeds. What kind of connection do you use Danny - ADSL or cable?
Nice video ^^. I'm hoping to work on a few start-ups once I graduate in a few weeks. Both of them I want to make due to I feel that they will fill a void on the internet that I feel nobody has stepped up to do. While I do hope that I will get money out of them eventually, the main reason I'm making them is that I want people to feel connected or help provide information to people in an easy and simple manner. I hope it is something that works out next year ^^i
As always a nice collection of photos. I'm happy with my ADSL speed so free wi-fi would be nice especially since mobile internet is way to expensive here.
100mbps. I don't have my laptop with me all the time, even if I do *most* of the time, and I'd rather have a much faster home connection. I'm not out long enough to really need Internet; there's always stuff waiting to be watched and games waiting to be played.
What a nice Week(s) hmm Danny. A lot of things happening in your life, so much changes on the blog, and a lot of news to bring up to us. I had a lot of trouble without a Free Wi-fi in Tokyo, so Let's go for a Free Wi-Fi. Coz without internet for searching, its really hard to travel in a different country.
100Mbps please~ Since I'm home almost all the time.. Only that 1 week or 2 when back to hometown... Rural area = no wifi =( The flowers, I think we have it here too, if you're workin for big companies. ^^ What? DC is flagged as adult site at Germany? O_o
Sorry for double post, but isn't it Magibon and not Maginbon? ^^ Gotta love the Magibon Song xD
I'm pretty sure it is Magibon as well. Unless after all this time I must have not been paying attention. =P
I remember Danny talking about this when he was in Germany. He asked how many of us who had problems with blocking of DC. I can't remember the answer to that question though, but a search could tell if you are really interested in this question. I don't have blocking issues and that's good enough to know for me (at least for now)
I do make a mean cup of coffee, if I do say so myself. ;) Definitely best to grind the beans yourself!
Man the inde movie suck compare to the old one... Ahhh I don't like doing contest cause I know I'll never win...
Another nice week love the series! I'd rather have the 100Mbps. =w=''
I think getting a faster net connection would be better thab a free wifi. What if the makers of the Wifi has a conspiracy, then the outcome would be bad. There are free wireless connectivity, but the connection is crappy. LOL, better to get a guaranteed 100 mbps, physically connected. World is moving so many people will know how to make a 100mbps on their own, making it free.
wonderful & meaningful week there ^^ 100Mb connection plz~~~~~~~~ Better get a good coffee machine first, which would cost an arm or leg ^^; or the simplest, use a french press pot.
"Got my Indy Jones waiting in the lounge for viewing - how was it compared to the previous Indy's?" Compared to the others it's bad alright. Overall it's ok. "Are you aware of any pirated software being used at your work? If so, would you grass on your company?" lol, I would never do that... 98% of my software is pirated =/
Free wifi please :) I could live with 7.2Mps if it meant I could stay connected to the internet anywhere in the country.
I don't like browsing on mobile devices; give me the 100mps. Oooh, you sat at the window right behind the wing? That's my favorite spot. I love watching the ailerons. ^_^
Loving the shots in the plane! I love flying, I stare out of the window the whole time!
I like those pictures too. There is something facinating about looking at the ground from a plane. However I hate flying. I don't like the forces and movements of a plane. Also the more I learn about safety and how planes work the more I don't like flying, which is interesting because airlines actually tell people about how planes work to get them comfortable about flying... it's the opposite with me ^^
I would rather have free WIFI. The only things that I can think of that require 100Mbs are downloading games and anime/t.v. shows. I have one of those stuffed animals from the crane game that I won. Those games are pretty addictive. As for Indiana Jones, South Park put it best: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg raped Indy.
Same. I'd rather get free WiFi. 7.2Mbps isn't a bad speed at all, unless you download games and anime then that's where the 100Mb connection comes in. All in all I'd sacrifice that to be able to get a net connection on my laptop wherever I go.
I want 100Mbps free Wifi ^^. The last Indy movie is really bad in my opinion and really don't like the ending but that's just me though. Previous 3 Indy movies are much better.
I dont think you can get 100mbp on wifi
shaolin girl looka like good movie.
God, I wish America would get it's act together for some killer internet. Our Idea of Fast is a 10/1 cable connection. 15/2 Fiber if your lucky (which I am not). Then to top it off, cable can often get bogged down hard during prime hours. BOOOO.
Another lovely week in Tokyo huh!!!!!! Wow, your blogger meet is growing...90 bloggers...WOW!!!!!! That is a lot of bloggers...sadl there isn't many otaku bloggers here in Canada...
Hmm.... (about this site being blocked in germany), i think generally content blocking is rare in the uk by ISPs.... that being said, nico nico douga got blocked on my ISP (Virgin media) for a good 2 weeks, apparently they thought it was a security risk....
we already have free wifi in Paris in almost all the public space ( garden, museum etc..) and admistration building. it give u a free wifi access for an hour, after that u have to restart a session but u can restart as many time as u want. take a long time to settle that because the internet providers were not really happy and also because there was a lots of legals issue. So that, plus Mc donald free wifi and a lot of restaurants and bars that also provide wifi u can connect to internet almost everywhere in Paris. but not really sure that is usefull since that Two providers annouce that they gonna start WIMAX next year, going first in Paris.
I never did get too far into the practice of making coffee from beans because I can't stand the stuff. ^^; I do visit interesting, semi-remote places known for their great coffee, though. Right now, for example, I'm in the volcanic region of Guatemala. If you decide to take up making coffee from beans (or would like some ground coffees from interesting places) let me know and I'd be happy to send some along when I go somewhere new!
Watch Indy ASAP His 'very apparent' age will bother you for the first 5mins Then if you are a major/super fan, the next 10mins should erase all doubts about the movie...and his age. tsk tsk tsk Danny, you know you're not supposed to turn on electronic devices while the plane is making landing..........taking photos like that. Unless i'm mistaken and the laws aren't that strict in Japan?
Good point. However I'm pretty sure that the electromagnetic noise from the camera is minimal. The problem is mainly (only?) about devices transmitting a radio signal (like a mobile phone or a wifi notebook).
Do calendars become cheap/half price too in Japan after January? There's a lot of unsold calendars here that made me wish I waited til January... Anyway, I already ordered a Soul Eater desktop calendar for my workplace from Hobby Search already ^_^
Would like to have a 100Mbps connection, but even the university network which I currently use isn't so fast:( And this is still a lot faster than the one I can use at home.
I like japanese airline's dessert :P~~~~~
I have changed my mind, I'll also take the dessert:P
Didn't get the chance to taste ANA dessert. The last I went to Japan had to take Thai Airways to reduce cost. The food was very good but the service was bad..
This is my favourite series of yours on the blog :D Nice to see you are continuing with it! 100mbps???!! We pay more for shaped net that can go up to maximum of 24mbps (if you live at the exchange and no one else is connected).
Seeing as Norway's internet offers plain suck, I want a 100 Mbps connection more than I want free WiFi. Sure, that'd been total own as well, but after being stuck with a 4 Mpbs connection for so long, I want fasssssster naow! And I'm happy to see this series still alive and kicking. I really enjoy these articles and the photo walks ^^
I love that posts full of tokyo photos, keep it up ! ;)
I'd say that dessert in the 5th picture looks like some sort of a Youkan with a Kinako topping... Am I close?
Love the series. Thanks for updating. Food looks great as always. My search for a moesome calendar has been fruitless as well. :( Will probably just get a Persona 4 one.
I was wondering when you were going to update ( A week in Tokyo series). it was well worth the wait. another great blog Danny.
